The Mosquito™ ultrasonic teenage deterrent is the solution to the eternal problem of unwanted gatherings of youths and teenagers in shopping malls, around shops and anywhere else they are causing problems. Railway companies have placed the device to discourage youths from spraying graffiti on their trains and the walls of stations.

With an effective range of between fifteen and twenty meters field trials have shown that teenagers are acutely aware of the Mosquito and usually move away from the area within an average of 8 - 10 minutes. The system is completely harmless even with long term use. The Times newspaper in England reports that the device was first used at a Spar shop in Barry, South Wales, where the owner Robert Gough was enthusiastic about the device's success in driving away the local youths. "Either someone has come along and wiped them off the face of the earth, or it's working" he is quoted as saying. Since then, there have been literally hundreds of successful reports not only from police and local authorities, but also from business owners.

It seems that there is a very real medical phenomenon known as presbycusis or age related hearing loss which, according to The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, "begins after the age of 20 but is usually significant only in persons over 65". It first affects the highest frequencies (18 to 20 kHz) notably in those who have turned 20 years of age". It is possible to generate a high frequency sound that is audible only to teenagers.

GSM Mosquito
Moving Sound provides a remote control for the Mosquito, however, this has a range of only 50 meters. This is OK if there is someone on-site to activate the unit. Where staff are not present, the only other options are either a timer or a PIR, however, in certain situations, these can be problematic.

To this end, Moving Sound offers the GSM Mosquito. The unit can be activated and deactivated simply by sending a text message to it via a mobile phone.

What advantage does this provide? Well, it removes the responsibility for using the device from local staff and allows a qualified person to decide if it is really necessary to activate the device. This will prevent the Mosquito from being used arbitrarily and incorrectly.

We envisage that when the site staff feels there is a problem, they can call a designated qualified person and explain the problem. If the qualified person feels that the situation warrants activation, he / she can activate that particular Mosquito. The Mosquito will automatically deactivate after 20 minutes, however, the unit can be deactivated sooner if required by sending another text message.

The Mosquito will have a SIM card already fitted. This card will be on a monthly pay-as-you-use fee with one of the major mobile networks. Any mobile phone on any network can be used by the qualified person / authority to send instructions to the Mosquito.

This ensures that the use of the Mosquito is solely in the hands of a qualified person and ensures that the unit is NOT abused.

GSM/SMS remote monitoring system
The TAD-201 Informer is a GSM/SMS remote monitoring system. It is connected to an existing fire / intruder alarm system and will send SMS text messages to designated people when the alarm is triggered. It is capable of monitoring up to four circuits and also has an output which can be used to arm / disarm the system remotely or control external apparatus. Unlike other systems of this type the TAD-201 Informer has no ongoing operating costs - if used with a prepaid SIM card the unit will cost you nothing unless you use it.

The TAD-202 Informer is a GSM / SMS remote monitoring system with inbuilt GPS tracking. It has all of the features of the TAD-201 with the added benefit that if fitted to mobile plant, vehicles or equipment the owner can pinpoint the exact location of the device within seconds. Add to this the benefit of having no ongoing operating costs and you have a system perfect for theft prevention and recovery of stolen goods.

Mosquito PIR Activation Timer
When using a PIR detector to activate the Mosquito, it is often desirable to have the Mosquito to turn off as soon as or shortly after the PIR has ceased detecting movement. In it's configuration, the Mosquito will stay on for at least 20 minutes after the PIR has ceased detecting movement.

The Mosquito PIR Activation Timer is a small additional unit approximately 50mm x 25mm x 12mm. This unit is designed to be retro-fitted inside a standard MK II Mosquito on-site and affixed to the inside of the Mosquito housing via double sided high tack adhesive pads.

The PIR Activation Timer requires a small amount of wiring, taking approximately 5 minutes to connect and can be adjusted to keep the Mosquito running between 5-60 seconds after the PIR has detected movement. Each time the PIR detects movement, the Mosquito will reactivate for the set period of time.

Using the Mosquito PIR Activation Timer will reduce the time the Mosquito is active and prevent it operating when there are no people present in the immediate area.

This unit is designed to have a low 'false activation rate' and should not activate for birds, cats, dogs etc.
